Dementieva out of Top 15 for the first time since 2003 |
When you look at the Sony Wricsson WTA Tour rankings on Monday, you would be surprised not to see Elena Dementieva in the Top 15. With today's loss against Maria Sharapova 3-6 4-6, Elena Dementieva will slip to No. 17 in the world rankings.
Now I get it why Elena has to play Toronto next week, to try and boost her ranking so she can be seeded inside the top 16 of the US Open. She usually doesn't play that event. I hope she does well next week and get more ranking points.
Davai Elena! |

This is a bad news! But how is possible? Last week semifinal doesn't calculated? In the match against Sharapova I believed in her victory for a several reasons, but she has "Sharapova's illness"... In my opinion Elena must search a good new coach, not her mother... she has the possibility for playing much better... Anyway we always support her. Let' go Lena!

This is very bad news indeed. Last week's semifinals is calculated but the WTA rankings is calculated based on a 52-week thing. Since she's defending champion this week, she is also defending a lot of points which she wasn't able to get back. Also, as you can probably remember, she didn't play for 6 or weeks earlier this year and she missed both Indian Wells and Miami, hence a big drop in ranking points. She wasn't also able to defend her quarterfinal points from Wimbledon last year. We'll be in bigger trouble if she doesn't get at least to the quarters of the US Open.
I've said this a lot of times before to my friends, not a lot in this site though. Elena needs a proper coach. Having your mom by your side is nice but Elena's game isn't going much further without a new coach. She absolutely needs someone who can guide her and help her strategic game.
Thank you so much for reading my blog. I hope you like it and I hope to meet an Elena fan like you in the future. :)
